Dr Ben obtained his medical degree from Kursk State Medical University, Russia, under the Yayasan Sarawak Scholarship. He returned to Malaysia to practice, gained experience from various medical disciplines throughout the housemanship program, and henceforth served in the emergency department in a district hospital in Sarawak. He obtained a transfer back to his hometown in Kuching and served under the Ophthalmology Department Sarawak General Hospital for many years, being very much involved in the departmental activities and outreach programs.
He was also one of the main people in making the first National Virtual World Sight Day 2020 a success. During his years in the Ophthalmology Department, he was intrigued with Oculoplastics and how it can change a person’s outlook even with a brief procedure. Plus, he developed fine surgical skills throughout his journey in the department and has an intensive exposure towards laser therapy.
Dr Ben began to develop an interest towards aesthetics back in 2021. He realized that this is a field with great potential and would be such a fundamental base to achieve satisfaction in bringing joy to people’s faces. And in aesthetics, excellent hand skills are required which is one of his strong points. He loves technology and is very interested in the aesthetical machines available in the market. Since then he has joined various aesthetic-related courses and has completed the Medical Aesthetic Certification (MAC) program.
Outside of work, Dr Ben is an avid traveller and an all-rounder for hiking, cycling, and diving. He has scaled many trails in the country and overseas, especially Nepal. He is a strong advocate in leading a healthy lifestyle and believes in a good work-life balance.
